The role that women did play during the Reconstruction Era was that they went to work because most of their husbands died during the war and they had to figure out a way to sustain themselfs and their families.

Although women weren't permitted to vote yet, they still contributed to reconstruction. According to the text, "Black and white activists campaigned for voting rights and donated generously to politicians and political groups that represented their interests." This shows that they donated money to help the politicians they supported and helped make an impact on re-uniting the country.

Women played a political role as they provided lots of money to charity in attempts to get their voting rights, among other rights. Black women played a role in black communities as family tie builders as business starters. They also helped with efforts to reunite friends and family separated when they were slaves. Charity efforts helped white women widowed during the war because women had little rights under the law. Both black and white women campaigned for women suffrage and donated to politicians that supported their interest. Black women also help organize labor organizations to push the local governments to protect their rights.

After the Civil War, woman played a role in Reconstruction by working and finding ways to support their family. For example, the text states"...struggled to navigate social expectations around “proper” women’s behavior as they found ways to support themselves and their children." Therefore, this shows that not only did they work, they also sacrificed their "proper" appearance in society for it. Since they were women, they probably have to deal with criticism for it too. In addition, black women in particular also established successful businesses and at the same time rebuild relationships with family and community while being looked down upon by others.

Women played a massive, yet unjustified, role during the Reconstruction Era. All women (even whites) were being treated unfairly because of their gender. However, women of color were treated even worse than whites. For example, although the 15th Amendment has been passed, giving the right to vote to African Americans, women are not allowed to cast their votes or voice their opinions. Example: “hundreds of thousands of woman were widowed and struggled to navigate social expectations around “proper” woman’s behavior as they found how to support themselves and their children.” This piece of evidence shows woman really had to do some smart thinking to take care of their children while they had no help at all. The role that women played in the reconstruction era was that they had barely any rights and they had to get jobs that could support their families, also fighting for what they felt that was right and having a say and matter in situations.for example,"Women still could not vote, but that did not stop them from taking an active political role during Reconstruction." this means they had no right to vote during the time being. in addition,"They went to work to earn money to support their families and communities. They also participated in nationwide efforts to reunite with family and friends separated during slavery. " this supports that when they had no money they had to find jobs to take care of their families and that was the role they were playing during the reconstruction era.

Women played a vital role during the Reconstruction period because they helped America recover by uniting families, giving education and re-building communities. For example, the text states "In the face of virulent racism and the constant threat of physical and sexual violence, Black women established successful businesses and built strong families and community networks that lasted for generations." Furthermore, this shows the role women in America took on to help in the Reconstruction and the strength they had since women during this time period had no rights and black people were constantly dehumanized, harassed and attacked.

During the Reconstruction Era, women, black and white, had a great role in politics, government and voting. For instance, white women were called to take an oath to the U.S in order to unite the divided country. Without them, the country would still be split and the Reconstruction would be a failed plan. Moreover, even black female activists, "campaigned for voting rights and donated generously to politicians and political groups that represented their interests." Their contribution to voting helped and encouraged the U.S government to give people of color the right to vote. All in all, any women, regardless of race, had a major contribution in the reconstruction of today's nation.

During the Reconstruction Era, women played an active role in supporting their families and advocating for their voting rights. For example, black women went to work to gain money for their families and participated in large efforts to reunite themselves and others with their friends and family. They were able to build businesses, strong families, and community networks that lasted for a long period of time.

Women, black and white, campaigned for voting rights and donated generously to politicians and political groups that represented their interests. Black women workers made labor groups to protect their rights. Black women worked hard and undertook to let it be known that they were United States citizens and had right. Many black women tried to connect families separated by slavery.

Women did have a part in reconstruction by helping political groups. The text states “ Black and white activists campaigned for voting rights and donated generously to politicians and political groups that represented their interests. Black women workers organized labor groups to push local governments to protect their rights.” Based off of this piece of text women gave money to political groups and organized labor groups so they government could protect their rights.

During the Reconstruction Era, women did not have the right to vote and had very few rights. However, this did not stop them from providing for their families and fighting for their rights. For example, according to the article, "Black and white activists campaigned for voting rights and donated generously to politicians and political groups that represented their interests. Black women workers organized labor groups to push local governments to protect their rights... They went to work to earn money to support their families and communities." This shows that women played the role of protecting their rights and caring for their families.

Women played a big role in helping out during the reconstruction era. Black women went to work to earn money so that they were able to support their families and their communities and they organized labor groups which helped push government locals to protect their rights. In addition, Black and White activists campaigned for voting rights and donated generous amounts to politicians and political groups. For example, based on the text, “Black and white activists campaigned for voting rights and donated generously to politicians and political groups that represented their interests. Black women workers organized labor groups to push local governments to protect their rights... Black women played critical roles in the community building efforts Black Americans undertook to assert themselves as citizens of the United States. They went to work to earn money to support their families and communities.” Overall, Women did much more than this and were a vital group of people during this time, even though they didn't have any voting rights.

Women played a large role in rebuilding the nation after the war. For example, women activists campaigned for voting in the US. There were donations to the government and to struggling people who were in need after the war, especially widows.

Women contributed heavily to the Reconstruction Era, although they did not have many rights and could not vote they still fought for their rights and helped shape the new America. For example, in the document it says, "Women still could not vote, but that did not stop them from taking an active political role during Reconstruction."

Women played a critical role in the Reconstruction Era. Although women had limited rights like not being able to vote and having to be dependent on their husbands; they continued to work to help their families and participate in events that will help with reconstructions, such as helping other families and protecting their rights.

Woman at this time played a big role in allowing themselves to be heard and to be considered as citizens for example in the text it had said “Black women played critical roles in the community building efforts Black Americans undertook to assert themselves as citizens of the United States.”

Women played a sort of subtle role in the reconstruction era, because as said in the text women could not vote. They couldn't really contribute anything to the government as they had a limited voice. But, according to the Text: "but that did not stop them from taking an active political role during Reconstruction. Confederate white women were called upon to take loyalty oaths to the U.S. government as part of the push to rebuild national ties." this meant they could do something. More importantly they could cook for the men, which is pretty important.

Women, despite playing a more mundane role in the Reconstruction Era, were no less important to the time period. Post war, many men (yes, only men served as active participants in the war, I believe) have been wiped out in the countless bloody battles that occured. Of course, usually, only men were to work, but with those (late) men gone, who better to fill their positions than their wives? Women worked a large chunk of the jobs previously dominated by men to support their families in their stead, and contribute to general reconstruction in the workforce.

Women played many major roles during the Reconstruction Era but we're still treated unfairly. Women worked to support their family with money, tried to defend their own rights, and tried to help broken families get together again.

Women played a huge role and had a impact during the reconstruction era and especially African American women because many of the women couldn’t vote nor had much rights. In addition it was hard to get money and provide for the family.

Women played a major role during the reconstruction era “ Black women played critical roles in the community building efforts Black Americans undertook to assert themselves as citizens of the United States. They went to work to earn money to support their families and communities.” showing how black women helped achieve rights for African Americans/blacks, they also campaigned for womens rights as they hadn’t yet had the right to vote.

The women had a huge impact during the reconstruction era and mainly the African American women because they were the lowest in the time. Also many women couldn’t provide for families because of the lack of education. Women also had little to no rights and were seen like a lower class

During the Reconstruction Era even though women weren't allowed much things such as voting that did not stop them from playing important roles in history. Many women were important politically as they fought for voting rights for women. Other women (mainly black women) would also fight for the rights for black americans trying to gain citizenship for those americans. For example the doc states that "Black women played critical roles in the community building efforts Black Americans undertook to assert themselves as citizens of the United States."

Even though women weren't permitted to vote, they still contributed to reconstruction. For example the document says women still could not vote, but that did not stop them from taking an active political role during Reconstruction. Women helped to try to show how everyone is equal despite their gender and race. This is important because during this time period, women and people of color were looked down upon and were even attacked.

In 1865, The civil war ended. Then the country faced a new problem Reintergrating the southern states back into the union. Then in April of 1865 Abraham Lincoln was assasinated. After Andrew Johnson took over as president he stopped watching the south and let them get away with the black codes, a demoralizing and disturbing laws that took away basic human/ american rights given to white people by the founding fathers. Towards the end of the year Black women pushed to have to have organized work groups and protest against what was happening to them.

In the Reconstruction Era, women still could not vote and had no equal rights compared with men. But they still played a big role during these critical times.Black and white activists campaigned for voting rights, and had donated to political groups. As stated in the text, black women also went to work to earn money and support their community/family, pursuing their new educational opportunities.

The type of role that women played during the Reconstruction Role was trying to get rights that they wanted. In addition, women barely had any rights because men oppressed them and they had no rights. For example, "Women still could not vote, but that did not stop them from taking an active political role during Reconstruction. Confederate white women were called upon to take loyalty oaths to the U.S. government as part of the push to rebuild national ties." This very long quote shows how the gov thinks that its ok that women have no rights and they arent going to do anything about it.

During that time period, women had no right to vote. Even though, they did not have as much power as men, they contributed in reconstruction.
