A statue of a black Union Army solider should not be across from a statue of a confederate soldier. even though some may argue the Confederate army should have statues, i think that is wrong, and no statues should remain of confederate generals or soldiers, because of what they stood for. but most importantly, no, a Confederate statue should not be next to a Union soldiers statue.

No because it would be wrong to have a Black enslaved man who was a soldier directly across from a confederate solider because they are from the Southern states which used to have black men as slaves so it wouldn't feel right to have those two statues directly in front of each other.

i think that its ok to have the black union army soldier across from the confederate soldier because it shows an aspect of history. the two are on opposite sides of the civil war and putting them together makes sense to show fighting in the war. the statue also being a enslaved black man shows a part of the emancipation proclamation which is a huge part of history.

Yes because they were both a big part of history and even tho people wont like it i think they should respect it because they were basically war hero's. They were on opposite sides of the war but they both fought in a war that would soon change history and personally i think if it wasn't for that war we would still be separated. So yes, I think it is ok to have a black union army soldier's statue across from the confederate soldier's statue since the war about both sides were a big part of history.

I think that it is okay to have a black union army soldier across from a confederate soldier because it showed how the Emancipation Proclamation changed the lives of many slaves giving them freedom. This also shows how the two sides fought against each other in the civil war. This was a very important time period and it changed the nation for the better.

I think I am parted both ways. On one side, the confederate statue should not be there near the Enslaved Union Soldiers statue because it takes away some of the glory. Kind of-- Its like the Union soldiers statue should be getting the attention and glory it deserves without an interruption in the way. But, on the other hand both statues should remain as they are because they did, indeed fight in the same war, and were the only two sides in the war and even though the Confederacy was not something you would call good. They still played an incredibly important roll in the Civil War. Also it kind of shows how the Union army overcame the Confederacy.

I think the two statue should stay where they are because it could educate people on the two types of people who fought in the civil war. On one side is a black enslaved man fighting for his freedom and for the North, representing 186,000 colored people fighting. However, on the other side is a confederate solider, representing the South. The two statue next to each other show the differences between the two and how they relate, which might be educating others.

I believe that having a black enslaved man, who joined the Union army, across from a Confederate soldier is okay. The two statues show the main cause for the Civil War and the affect the Emancipation Proclamation had on slavery. Not only that. but the statue shows the slaves are fighting against the people who did them wrong, tortured and abuse them. The fact that around 180,000 (which is a large amount of people) slaves were in the Union Army, shows that the slaves contributed to the Civil War.

I think it is fine that the two statues are placed across each other because both black and white soldiers fought in the war, meaning they probably fight alongside each other. This symbolizes that even though they have different skin colors, they came together to fight for one cause. They might've been through different experiences to get to where they were and even throughout the war itself but both people were an equally important part of US history so it wouldn't be right to separate them because of their skin color or anything like that.

I believe that it's okay to have a black, enslaved man that has joined the Union to be across from a confederate soldier because they should have the right to be directly apart of the opposition to the South. Likewise, reflecting to this piece of history from the past to the present is the purpose to the statue of a black, Union soldier, containing the just for that event to be memorialized.

I think the statue of the black enslaved man who was in the union army should be where it is at because it stands for all of the other black soldiers who were in the army. I don't know about it being across from the confederate soldier because the confederate army was for slavery so I really think they should take the confederate statue down but if they won't they should still leave the statue of the black man.

Yes because they were on opposite sides in the war.

I think it would be alright because it is showing the different sides or perspectives of the crisis that was happening. It is also showing the public what sides they are on and what different perspectives they both have.

Yes, because they weren’t on the same side in the war and it’s history.

Yes, It is okay for a statue of a black man who enlisted in the Union Army to be across from a statue of a Confederate soldier. I feel this way because it shows how black people stood up to the people who were treating them unjustly.

I my opinion I think that statue of a black enslave who was enlisted in the Union army should be put across the for a statue of confederate soldier. I think this because even though the were he was tread badly he still fight for those people who did it to him.
