Besides the pandemic the issue that is most important to teenagers is probably school. In March schooling was more relaxed because there was no decided plan for it but now, since there is a more fixed plan for school , grading can be more strict and students can feel stressed if they don't understand certain subjects that are being taught.

Besides the pandemic teenagers are probably most worried about their grades, especially 8th and 7th graders going into High school. Their grades are very important for high school admissions and you could end up in a totally different high school than what you wanted if your scores were bad or you could end up the the school you always wanted to enroll in.

Besides the pandemic, there are a lot of issues that are most important to teens and that they need to be resolved. One issue that most teens face and needs to be resolved is bullying. Lots of people especially teens face bullying. As a result this can cause a problem called depression, and can harm a person eternally. Words have Power. Another issue that most teens face is STRESS. Stress about Academics, or stress in general. Stress can harm you mental health because there is lots of anxiety and depression that goes into stress. Furthermore, the factors that causes stress are that a teen is facing a lot of pressure, facing changes, worrying, in times of uncertainty, etc. Not only, does most teens face stress, most teens face the causes of stress. All in all bullying and stress are two of the boundless issues that teens face, and also the most common issues among teens.

Zihao, I agree---- bullying is one unresolved issue that continues to ruin too many young lives. The best remedy is NEVER BULLY ANYONE! and REPORT THOSE WHO DO! If we all did this, the cases of bullying would drop dramatically!

For me, it’s learning issues and high school issues. We are doing online learning and this isn’t the best way to learn. In addition, the way of choosing high schools might be different and more complicated because of the pandemic. Having a teacher’s help face by face is better.

I think teenagers have the most trouble with school. Its where we spend most our time on. Not only that but the fact that we 8th graders are going to high school next year will be stressful. There will be lots of tests. During this pandemic everything is messy. The Shsat has also been pushed back. Im nervous about if Im doing well in school.

Besides the pandemics teens like me face a lot of stress, it is very stressful in the times doing school work and worrying about grades. It is harder to do assignments by ourselves as well, all the work kind of just piles up. When I have work I don't do because I distract myself I just procrastinate and sometimes work becomes to stressful. As well, teens face a lot of bullying today just because of how they look, what they were, what they eat, there ethnicity etc. Bullying is a huge problem within teens and a major problem that needs to stop because words do hurt and can put people in bad places. I'm am very worried about high school because we don't know how anything is going to happen we can only hope for the best it is very stressful to prepare and it feels like were going into high school with blind eyes.

If you are in 8th grade and are applying to an audition school, I think one of the most important issues are high school auditions. Students are worried about what they are going to be like since they will be different because of the pandemic and they don't know what to expect.

Besides the pandemic the most obvious issue to teenagers would be future education. Due to Covid-19 many events have been delayed or canceled. For instance, the SHSAT had been delayed for a long time and the DOE is still unsure how students would take the test. Other issues that teenagers could be stress from schoolwork because most people are learning online which is different from physically siting inside a classroom. Information might not be clear when learning online.

Another issue is how teens are learning because when at home you can get easily distracted since it is your home. But at school, there are not much things for you to get distracted by.

I've seen it on social media where people complain about online learning being extremely overwhelming. Not to mention the high school admission methods are going to be pretty different. The SHSAT is delayed and it can be stressful for many.

Besides the pandemic, I believe that the most important issue for teens mainly centers around concerns about their academical performances and their social stresses at school. Teenagers go through a lot of hardships in middle school. They experience bullying, they experience social issues with friends, they experience personal issues at home with their parents or siblings that can indeed inflict stress, they experience emotional trauma from low grades, and they even have personal developmental relationships/conflicts with boys at school that cause a lot of pure pressure, leading to emotions that are hard to express or contain.

I try to not worry about things. If I had to decide what I'm worrying about the most, it might be what I want to do in the future. I'd prefer to be able to do whatever I want without having to settle, but that's probably not going to happen. So I have to figure something else out that would give me a decent amount of freedom to do whatever.

Besides the pandemic, the issue might probably about remote learning. It could be difficult for students to focus, especially when their little siblings is around them and their parents were talking all the time. In addition, some students might have trouble controlling themselves from doing other stuff that they were not suppose to do during the class time. Furthermore, learning remotely might not get a full understanding about the materials that are taught by the teachers.

I agree! It's hard not to worry about anything during these difficult times. And yes, online schooling just seems to add on to the pressure that teenagers are already going through. My top concerns are grades, the SHSAT test for the specialized high schools as well as the auditions test for the performing arts high schools, high school applications, and a personal matter that needs to be taken care of at home that adds to the stress that I'm already enduring. These are common issues worldwide for teenagers to worry about.

Well, I read that many of your concerns pertain to school. Whether it is to enter a good high school and/or college. I hear you all! Although I am obviously not a teenager, I have similar concerns about my daughters and whether we will be able to afford the college of their choice. Only time will tell, (they are just 6 and 8 years old) unless a political leader pushes for free college tuition for all. I am not sure if that is practical, considering a system like ours, but perhaps it is worth a discussion--free college for all?

Something besides the pandemic is definitely school work and just having fun with your friends online now. Most children are stressed out since they have work to do even though they just wanna have fun and play with friends. Its a whole other world online and we can get away from this pandemic virtually by playing games. Hw and highschool brings another topic since now we have to better in school and there are so many different things from auditions, to SHSAT or just trying to find a high school that fits you in general.

I think that school is teenager's top priority. For example, grades and staying engaged during this pandemic. I know that online school hasn't been very nice on some students so adjusting and staying on track in school is the most important thing at the moment for us. Moreover, our overall year experience. A lot of us are upset that we can't hang out with our friends and have fun together like we used to. So staying in touch with people and trying to make the most out of this is also an important thing we have to keep on track of.

Besides the pandemic, I think school is very important to teenagers. The fact that online school and applying to new schools is a lot different than it was in the past, it just applies a constant feel of stress to certain students. Grades and test scores can also apply lots of pressure to certain students. Not being able to socialze with friends can be upsetting as well as not being able to see family. Not being able to go outside as much and play sports isn't great for us either. Us not living the life we used to is pretty odd in general.

The things that I think most high schoolers have to worry about are grades and their future because at the moment the future is very uncertain and our current generation of high schoolers most likely don't have a lot of experience with pandemics. But school still matters at the moment and most students likely haven't experienced this kind of experience and might have difficulty adjusting to this which might lead to lower grades which might lead to stress

Besides the pandemic, many teenagers are probably stressed about their academic life and the upcoming election. With the new edition of supreme court justice Amy, a lot of people fear their rights as minorities, women and members of the lgbtq. As a girl and also a minority, I don't know how to feel about being scared that my rights are going to be taken away. I didn't even have the chance to employ them yet. The future is really uncertain and people are getting antsy about what's going to happen. The shsat and high school admissions have proved to be quite difficult over the pandemic and new changes are constantly being placed. Overall, I think teenagers are very confused and worried about what's going to happen in the following years.

I’m a bit stressed out from remote learning because it is a new way of learning. Personally I’m doing fine understanding new materials with each subject, but I have two friends in Ohio and we were just talking the other day, they feel like they aren’t learning anything from online school. Some classmates that do blended learning in their school got coronavirus, and the school closed down for like A WEEK, they told me that the people that are doing blended learning in their school are going back. That’s NOT SAFE. That’s why I think nyc is doing a good job keeping students safe and having a good academic plan, but that doesn’t apply to students in all the other states and cities.
