Next to those who believe, "Wear a mask" or "No reason to wear a mask," the closing of schools has been the most polarizing issue in our nation. One legitimate reason is many families will have to decide how to address their childcare concerns. The other reason for making the difficult decision means hindering a child's education by going from the hybrid model (synchronous/asynchronous) to now back to full remote. Those families/students who decided to attended class a few times a week, had some level of normalcy in their lives, albeit it was very different from a regular school day. Once again, the students impacted went back to what we were all doing back in March to June of this year. But, I think we must all realize the reason for doing this is because (according to the scientific data) there is an elderly population (our parents, grandparents) and those with underlying conditions who are the most vulnerable to COVID-19. In my opinion, most of us will be fine but this is not a time to be selfish. We need to make the adjustments now and sacrifice our routines for the greater good in order to protect those we love. Lastly, remember the pandemic of 1918!

i believe that he made a good choice to close schools to protect children us students from the risk of Corona but i also feel that, that is only one portion of it in the steps to protect us because that stopped us from socializing but not the adults and older people in our lives so just like how we got shut down those same people need to be as well or the good impact may not out-way the bad with this remedy.

I don't think that it was a very good decision to close the schools because of the struggles in remote learning. For example, at home not all students have wifi or a device to work on. In addition, people including me are distracting learning at home.

I felt that it was unfair to close the schools the circumstances are different in NYC. I don't think of 3% of the city has Covid is a fair mesuarment because we don't know how much of that is related to the schools. If there was higher cases in the city or 3% in schools but it just seems so early and unfair. Espically were the cases are coming from. And to me sad school close because I felt focused in school and it helped me. I felt he could of closed it thanksgiving I don't think that would have made such a difference.

Personally I am sad that schools closed because I learn better when I have a teacher in front of me, but I understand why. When I go outside on the weekends I see so many people not wearing masks and its like they forgot that Covid was a thing and by closing schools that limits the spread of the virus. Although it sucks, if it helps get rid of this virus then that’s good enough for me

It's good that schools have closed. If they hadn't then covid would have spread more and possibly hurt more people. NYC is a city where a virus like covid could spread fast. Education wise, it might not be so good. There isn't much work remote and it doesn't sink in as much, so I personally, am not learning the best remote.

I think that this decision was a good decision. Just because everyone in school is 6 feet apart, wearing masks and sanitizing regularly doesn't mean someone won't get corona virus. School isn't the problem, it's the students way of going from school and going home that's the problem. Someone may get corona from just walking home from school or walking to school. And with the recent surge of corona virus cases, that's more likely to happen.

I think that it is good reguards to our safety. Though I am not entiely sure I understand why he closed schools instead of other places. This is because schools have the lowest infection rates compared to other places. I also think it unfair since certain places have more infection rates than the city, so the mayor should take the right precautions for each area.

I think that there is both pros and cons on closing down New York City Public school. The Pros on closing down New York City public school so it could help the society to decrease the case of COVID-19. However, the cons on closing down New York City Public school is that student could sometimes struggle or feel more stress out over the impact of remote learning cause of the lack of work that their receiving. Students home environment could also impact them because a student like me who get distracted easily on phone or any electronic, I feel like it is harder for them to concentrate on what their supposed to be doing.

The decision of closing schools is a good choice since the covid cases are going up. No one really wants to get sick with a dangerous virus with no cure yet whatsoever. Safety comes first. Once the covid cases go down, then they can consider opening the schools back up again. I heard that the virus likes to stay inside so maybe there can be covid inside school buildings. That can make parents worried about their children, and it can make children may get covid. Lots of people want to stay at home since its the only place they can trust. All in all, closing schools is a good choice.

I think the mayor closing the school was a good choice despite people saying they do and focus better in school, because health comes first, as you probably won’t be able to study well in school if your sick. Other then that, the mayor closing the school down is also a good choice since COVID cases has gone up, which makes it a higher percentage that people can get sick, maybe if the cases go down they can reopen the school.

In my opinion, I think the Mayor's decision of temporarily closing public schools was the right choice because it's still possible for students in schools to catch Covid despite the fact that they are practicing social distancing. However, the downside of this decision is that, some students depend on going to school for education. They might not have the tools needed for learning online, so with schools closed again, it will be almost impossible for them to learn.

I think the Mayor's decision to close schools temporarily was good because a reason they would close down schools is because COVID cases are rising. I think that the mayor's decision to close public schools temporarily because of the recent surge in Covid-19 cases is a smart and good thing. If public schools weren't closed then more people can be affected by the corona virus and the cases will get higher and higher and maybe the death mortality rate will increase. I think that the decision of closing the school temporarily is a great decision because this can prevent the amount of cases to lower. This is only if they go outside less and has less interactions with other people outside. Going to big public places like schools can cause more and more cases. If one person gets the COVID, the people around him that has interactions with him, can get infections too.

I think the mayor made a good decision to temporarily close down the schools and have everyone take part in fully remote learning because it's for the greater good of this country. It's crucial for everyone to stay safe by taking the mandatory precautions and to choose to opt into full remote learning when necessary. Albeit, I personally think that taking part in blended learning was somewhat better for me because it enabled me to concentrate more, to better regulate my assignments that I receive from a whole variety of different subjects, and to ask more questions when the teachers are around more frequently in-person to substantially benefit me by helping me with my struggles on certain assignments, as well as provide emotional support.

I think the mayors decision to close public schools in NYC was a good decision. Since schools are indoors and they are saying the virus spreads quicker indoors. The cases in NYC are going up so by closing the schools for now we are slowing the spread. By closing the schools there is also less interaction with others so the spread should slow. People have to travel to schools by trains and buses and by not having the schools open less people will be traveling and there will be less contact with other people in closed spaces so it's less of a chance for people to come in contact with the virus and spread it to others.

For middle school and even high school kids, it's pretty easy for us to do remote learning because we understand the work. However, younger kids and special needs kids, need the teachers help and with remote learning, the teachers aren't able to help as much.
