misinformation spreads so easily because the videos are short and easy to share. For example, in the text it says, "According to experts, the features that allow the app to quickly and widely share fun videos also help to spread misinformation. Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor." This means that if misinformation were to spread, it'll be hard for Tik Tok to stop it from spreading and hard for Tik Tok to spot new misinformation.

False informatiion spreads so easily because it is believable. A lot of people believe what they see on tik tok and then tell their friends and the information spreads. For example it says "Researchers at NewsGuard—a group that tracks online falsehoods—searched TikTok for content about major news topics. They discovered misinformation in nearly 1 in 5 of the videos that the app suggested".This shows there is a lot of false inforation on tik tok

False information is spread so quickly through TikTok because there are is a vast majority of children using the app, who are most likely sharing it to their friends. For example, according the the article, “Can You Trust What You See On TikTok”, The graph of what social media platforms children ages 13 through 17 uses the most, shows that this year, 67% of teens go on TikTok. This shows that children going on a platform that is not know for being educational and are learning false things that they think is true is a very high possibility due the the overwhelming amount of teens that go on this app.

False information spreads so easily on TikTok because of the sheer amount of users, it's very difficult for TikTok to monitor all the users on the platform. For example, in the text it states "Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted. With more than 1 billion monthly users globally, TikTok has an enormous reach, so its content can go viral rapidly. Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted. With more than 1 billion monthly users globally, TikTok has an enormous reach, so its content can go viral rapidly." Therefore, this shows that the reason TikTok can spread false information is because TikTok is unable to monitor the large amount of TikTok users.

False information is able to spread so easily on Tic Tok because Tic Tok shows viewers content it thinks it's viewer will enjoy watching without considering it's credibility. In addition, people may feel a strong connections with an influencer or another popular person on social media, which leads to the viewer trusting the influencer and the information that influencer publishes. Furthermore, people are able to easily manipulate information and republish misinformation. For example, in the article it says, "Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted. With more than 1 billion monthly users globally, TikTok has an enormous reach, so its content can go viral rapidly." This shows how the amount of people using the app can also lead to more false information spreading. When a viewer believes the false information, that viewer may post a video talking about the false information thinking it's harmless, and then the cycle will repeat itself.

The reason why false information spreads to quickly on TikTok is because many people can get attached to the people they follow and so believe what they say, for example the text says ”Many users also feel a bond with the influencers they follow—even if they know very little about them in real life. This can cloud users’ judgment.”

False information spreads easily on Tik Tok because of the clout-chasing teens posting videos. Furthermore, due to the millions of users on Tik Tok, it is almost impossible to manage/monitor information that is shared on the app and to determine whether it is false or true. Thus, don't rely on the internet for everything since there is a possibility that the provided information is inaccurate.

Apps like tiktok are easy to grab teens attention with short informational videos. They can be easily shared and even with false information some people don't know if its correct or not. This information could be easily shared and that would be a spread of false information.

False info spreads quickly on TikTok because of the way it functions. TikTok functions as an endless scroll, and that means if you're already scrolling, it's near impossible to skip a video containing false info because your eye might catch anything interesting, wether it be the titles, captions, or video itself. In addition, it takes no time for the false news to travel to anyone with a device and a open app.

Misinformation spreads quickly on TikTok because of TikTok's algorithm showing videos that they think you want to watch. This can affect someone because the person will probably not even think about whether or not it is realistic. It is also easy to manipulate young audiences to believe things that aren't true. For example, the text states "Many users also feel a bond with the influencers they follow—even if they know very little about them in real life. This can cloud users’ judgment. 'Because so many teens are content creators themselves, and many of the people they follow on TikTok feel like peers, that sense of connection leads to trust that may not be earned,' " This shows that even if it isn't true, young audiences would be clouded by the opinions of influencers they like.

False information can spread very quickly throughout Tik Tok because since there is more 1 billion monthly users globally, information can spread real fast, In addition, people sometimes might feel a "bond" to an influencer who posts videos on Tik Tok. As the influencer gain more and more followers, they will become more popular and people are more likely to believe what they say because of the effect from crowd psychology.

I think false information spreads so fast on Tiktok because of how much time people spend on it. Once someone sees something, they talk about it with their friends and everyone wants to see it. They all believe it because they spend so much time on the app. According to pros, the features the app offers allows it to share information quickly. Videos on the app can be misleading as well as misunderstood which allows false information to spread quickly. We will never know if what we see on the internet is true of false unless we try it out or talk to the person who it is about.

False information spreads easily on tik tok because of its design. For example, the app is extremely popular and gets more then 1 billion users. This makes it hard to track and check the abundance amount of content being poster every second to see if the content is false or appropriate. In addition, according to the text “TikTok uses an algorithm… showing them videos it thinks they will enjoy… makes it more likely that a user will engage with content without pausing to consider its credibility”. In other words, tik tok gives the viewers videos they would enjoy making it harder to stop watching to check if the content is trustworthy. Furthermore, peoples judgement can be dulled because the viewers trust influencers that they like and sometimes trust them too much.

False information spreads so quickly on TikTok because of many factors. One factor is that Tiktok pulls in many viewers with more than 1 billion monthly viewers globally. This coupled with the short and easy to share videos is a recipe for disaster because of how easily things ca n be misinterpreted. For example, imagine the viewing of Tiktok is like a big game of telephone and one person is watching the video. Now however instead of adults they are teenagers and instead of around 10 people there are hundreds of millions because of this there is destined to be huge misinterpretation with the subject of the video but if the video was designed to be misleading it causes even more problems.

False information can spread so quickly on TikTok because it is such a popular app and that way, a false information video could blow up really quickly by people sharing to one another and due to that it is difficult for Tiktok to go through all the false information videos and remove them. According to 'Can You Trust What You See on TikTok?' by By Lisa M. Herrington it says "Since TikTok was launched around the world four years ago, it has skyrocketed in popularity, especially among teens. A Pew Research Center survey from this year shows that two-thirds of U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 have used the platform (see graph, below).According to experts, the features that allow the app to quickly and widely share fun videos also help to spread misinformation. Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted. For example, in the text it states, "Since TikTok was launched around the world four years ago, it has skyrocketed in popularity, especially among teens." There is a graph provided in the text that also supports my example, showing the percentage of teens 13-17 who own the app. (67% in 2022). In addition famous accounts can just say false information and people would believe like for example, people can be like (“this information about the earth being flat seems false but the person who said this has 10 million followers so it must be true.”) Furthermore, TikTok is a very popular app with thousands of videos being posted everyday and people who work to the company can’t delete or review videos that can offend people in time before it goes viral.

This false information can spread so quickly because of how many people see this information everyday. For example,"Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted. With more than 1 billion monthly users globally, TikTok has an enormous reach, so its content can go viral rapidly."

Misinformation spreads so easily due to the fact that the videos are short but abundant, meaning that many videos are being made simultaneously. For example, according to junior.scholastic.com, it states that "Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted. With more than 1 billion monthly users globally, TikTok has an enormous reach, so its content can go viral rapidly."

Spreading false information on Tik Tok is easy because if there is a video a person enjoys, Tik Tok will keep giving the user more related videos of what they are interested in. For example, "Plus, Tik Tok uses an algorithm to tailor content to individual users, showing them videos it thinks they will enjoy." This can also mean that you may not know if the video has false information or not since you are interested and want to absorb more information from the topic.

False information spreads so easily on Tik Tok because Tik Tok's features allowing it to widely share misleading videos. For example, based on the article, "According to experts, the features that allow the app to quickly and widely share fun videos also help to spread misinformation. Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted." This shows that since Tik Tok has features that can quickly/widely spread videos, people could use it to spread misinformation, and since Tik Tok can't monitor content well, it could be very easy to produce misinformation.

False imformation spreads quickly on the social media app Tik Tok because since the release of Tic Tok, it has only grown larger and larger with more users to come, allowing information to spread quickly from one user to another often ocuring due to the feature that allows creators on the platform to make short and quick videos to then post, leading to many misunderstandings in information from the lack of research and study, leaving many misleading information on the platform to then be taken by the audience to speak more of and spread more misleading information. For example, according to the article, "According to experts, the features that allow the app to quickly and widely share fun videos also help to spread misinformation. Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted...Plus, TikTok uses an algorithm to tailor content to individual users, showing them videos it thinks they will enjoy. This setup “makes it more likely that a user will engage with content without pausing to consider its credibility,” explains Jennifer LaGarde, a digital literacy expert from Olympia, Washington." This shows that misleading information are very easy to spread among the social media app Tic Tok due to creators not having enough research on a topic and posting their short videos that are made with little effort, resulting in viewers gaining misleading information and spreading even more misleading information.

False information spreads really quickly because TikTok is a very hard platform to control. TikTok is a place where people content off of and posts it to make you want to watch it. TikTok uses an algorithm that gets people to be engaged during the videos. “Because so many teens are content creators themselves, and many of the people they follow on TikTok feel like peers, that sense of connection leads to trust that may not be earned,” says LaGarde. This quote explains that false information can spread so easily just off of trust and can leads to deceiving information.

False information on Tik Tok spread quickly because it's believable. "A recent report found that even experienced journalists struggle to separate fact from fiction on the app," it states in the text. If not even people who write entries for a living cannot tell the difference between fake news and real at a glance, kids who have less experience is guaranteed to fall for it. By making it believable, kids are bound to share with other kids and maybe even repost, spreading the misinformation around.

False information can easily spread on TikTok because short videos are easy to post and watch. Meaning people see it really fast and everybody has a different way of thinking so the video(s) can be misunderstood. For example, "Videos on the platform can be manipulated and republished --- and misinterpreted. With more than 1 billion monthly users globally, tiktok has an enormous reach, so it's content can go viral rapidly."

False information spreads so easily on TikTok because of the amount of children on the platform. Children are easily influenced by the short videos and it is impossible to monitor any fake video. For example, the text states "Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted." Therefore, this shows that many people are influenced by these ideas and tiktok can't really do anything about it.

False information spreads on TicTok rapidly because of how easily it is to post on TicTok. It is also because creators also want a large following so spreading false information is an easy way to gain more followers. In addition people that spread the information may not be aware. For instance, in the text it states "Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted." This shows that there is way too many videos that are being shared, and TikTok is not able to take down these videos because of how many videos there are.

I think misinformation travel so fast on TikTok because the videos we see on the app is tailored to our preferences. Because the videos are tailored to our preferences, if we have some kind of bias towards some kind of topic we might just get pulled down an even deeper rabbit hole of biased information and eventually most of the videos we have might be misinformation. As Jennifer LaGarde said, "TikTok uses an algorithm to tailor content to individual users, showing them videos it thinks they will enjoy. This setup “makes it more likely that a user will engage with content without pausing to consider its credibility,” " As we watch 60sec videos it is hard to validate every fact we see.

False information spreads around very easily in tik tok because people online can find videos and pretty much change them into whatever the person wants and it would be hard for tik tok to find out about it as stated in the article “Its short videos are easy to post and watch—but hard for TikTok to monitor. Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished”

in my opinion , I think that "false information spreads like a lightning bolt because its one of the most used social media platforms. futhermore many people sending the same topics can be hard for developers to monitor and take it down. For example, in the text it says, "According to experts, the features that allow the app to quickly and widely share fun videos also help to spread misinformation. False information is spread very quickly due to it being spread fast and believable, and the information gets along to lots of people. For instance, One example from the text is "Many users also feel a bond with the influencers they follow—even if they know very little about them in real life. This can cloud users’ judgment. " This shows that they get confused, and believe people due to their positive tone, even if it is not true.

False information is able to spread quickly in the platform as it has a lot of people that would talk about a single topic. People trust the influencers and because of the trust they would believe the false information they give for views. For instance it states in the text “ Many users also feel a bond with the influencers they follow—even if they know very little about them in real life.” this piece of evidence shows people trust others easily even if they don’t know much about them because they like their videos.

False information spreads very quickly on TikTok because of the algorithm that TikTok uses. Tiktok's algorithm customizes an individual's feed by showing them videos that it thinks the user will like. This results in tons of videos containing false information being spread. For example, in the text, it states, "TikTok uses an algorithm to tailor content to individual users, showing them videos it thinks they will enjoy. This setup 'makes it more likely that a user will engage with content without pausing to consider its credibility.'” This shows that the algorithm that TikTok uses is a major part of the spread of misinformation.

Misinformation spreads quickly because it is a big platform that shows you what you want to see and then the people that see that spread it to more people, and the cycle goes on and on. For example, the article states that “ Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted. With more than 1 billion monthly users globally, TikTok has an enormous reach, so its content can go viral rapidly." This shows how many people there are to see and spread the misinformation.

People cannot trust what they see on social media because it can spread false information. For example, "According to experts, the features that allow the app to quickly and widely share fun videos also help to spread misinformation.". In addition, "Many users also feel a bond with the influencers they follow—even if they know very little about them in real life. This can cloud users’ judgment." Therefore, this shows that you cannot trust everything that you see online because since people trust the influencers that they barely know and believe what they say false information can spread quickly since it is so easy to post and spread new information. All in all, you cannot believe everything you see on social media because false information is generated quickly and spreads quickly.

Videos on the platform can easily be manipulated and republished—and misinterpreted" This means people can spread rumors and Tic toc can't really stop it and people believe in easily.

False information spreads quickly on TikTok because of the people themselves. TikTok has a part of the app that is specific for that person. Based on the videos they watch, TikTok suggests videos for that person by showing videos for that person based on the content that they like. Also, viewers follow the creators they like. For example,” Many users also feel a bond with the influencers they follow—even if they know very little about them in real life.” In addition, digital literacy expert from Olympia, Washington says, “ “Because so many teens are content creators themselves, and many of the people they follow on TikTok feel like peers, that sense of connection leads to trust that may not be earned,” says LaGarde.”

misinformation spreads easily on the internet because people can manipulate and impersonate other people and making false accusations for example it says TikTok officials insist they are committed to combating false information. the platform prohibits posting misinformation about elections, impersonating another person, and making false statements about specific people.
