So far I haven’t really learned anything beside, when this form of almost totally isolation started, my mother and I have been socializing more, and my friends and I have been socializing more.

Coping is not too tough, but I'm starting to get worried. I'm out of "breakfast" (put in quotes because I could technically eat anything for breakfast) foods- well, the ones I'm not allergic to. The nearby stores are running out of ceral and oatmeal, but I'll do fine without it. Otherwise, everyone at home is fine with the self-quarantine because we get to spend more time together.

If enough people in NYC get it, then it might be a good idea to begin a "shelter in place" but I think they have to consider the people. They need to be outside as well, and if it is not necessary, then it shouldn't happen.

I completely agree with this idea Luke. NYC should not create a "Shelter In" until we know what is going on with this virus. It also depends on the number of cases, but if it gets really bad i agree with this "shelter in". However, it may be bad for people to stay inside 24/7 so maybe they could limit the number of contact between people but let them go outside. i dont really know, I hope this situation ends soon :)

I think if the epidemic becomes worse and starts to spread faster, than we should shelter in.

I feel like most of us are already in "shelter in place" because some of us aren't going out at all. I hope we won't experience another "Great Depression" any time soon. All the business are losing profit. Economy of the whole world may crash except for Purell company, Clorox and Lysol.

The thing is, the majority of us are already sheltering in place. If we have to force the rest of the population to do the same, then we should. *sigh* WHY IS IT THAT WE’RE NEVER ABLE TO STOP THE SPREAD OF AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE WHEN WE’RE ABLE TO? Sorry about that. I’m just angry that we humans have never been able to contain the spread of disease before it grows out of control. I’ve never understood why that’s the case.

I completely agree Darren. I think that the people not currently in "shelter in" should start to do it because the sooner we get this under control, the sooner things start going back to normal. It is very important for us to understand that while we might not be affected by COVID-19, there are many people with weakened immune systems that will be. Think of doing "shelter in" not for yourself, but to protect others that could be in worse condition.

I think that the city should not do a shelter in because after the shelter in would be “lifted” then there would be complete chaos and no control whatsoever. In addition, a shelter in would not be good because people that don’t have a lot of supplies will suffer as they are not prepared. Also poor families might not have entertainment if this happens. unless there is a solution to this problem I stand by my opinion.

This question is making me think of fall out shelter, and if it is like the video game in real life, then we would need a big shelter, because if they did build one, it is going to run out of food, water, and space. So people will have to go out to get food and water, and people will be kicked out for more space.

I'm cooping with the situation fairly well. My family has stocked up on food and I'm hoping that after the peak of the virus, things will start to get better. The scary thing about this virus is that once a person gets it he/she doesn't really know until a few days, or even weeks, later, which is why I think it would be a good idea to distance ourselves from others for the meanwhile.

I'm going to be honest, i don't really have a good idea what the term "shelter in place" is, but based on prior knowledge, i'm thinking its basically what the name suggests, and so, my opinion is that if there is no shelter in place, then everyone would be in the streets, being fearful of everyone else, and generally creating a untruthful community, which is the opposite of our agenda.

No, as testing is advancing the more people will get tested positive for COVID-19 I think it will be fine to go outside outside, when more people are in quarantine than there is less threat of getting it outside.

Other than the fact that I haven't went outside for the 5th day (last time i went outside was on Friday), I'm coping with the situation fairly well. I think a "Shelter in Place" shouldn't be placed in NYC because the population of the city is humongous. Also, it's easy to manipulate residents of NYC to stay at home for the first few days if there is a "shelter in place" however, as days past, people would start becoming reckless and insane after staying in their homes for a long period of time as the days becoming warmer and more welcoming.

If NYC decides to begin the "shelter in," people are only going to get more anxious and worried than they already are. As someone said earlier, there are already people that are taking precautions. (Like staying home.) However, if people are ordered to stay home all the time then, it will only cause more stress and anxiety. If things get completely out of hand, then a "shelter in" might be the only answer. However, I think we should try our best to prevent the virus from getting there.

In my opinion in this pandemic coping in a situation like this isn't all that bad, I have everything that my family and I need. But it's sad to be lonely all the time.

The shelter in place order is definitely troublesome. Since not everybody may actually die to the virus, isn't it better to just order this on the elderly and those with suppressed immune systems? That way, the people who aren't in a quarantine are not angry and this will release some tension. Many people are already anxious for no reason and this will make it worse.

I think we should starts a shelter for everyone Because if we don’t take Advantage of this problem them more people would go outside and must likely their gonna spread Coronavirus. We should start a shelter to prevent anyone getting COVID-19.

We are coping this situation by starting to store food in our fridge and start not going outside to prevent COVID-19. Especially to not get sick at this point.

Many people are already staying at home. I think that a shelter in place would be hard to enforce in New York City because there are so many people living here, and very close together. If one person in a family gets the virus, won't everyone else in the family likely get it because they are required to stay at home?

As the situation is getting worse it may come to a point in which we should get sheltered in. However, it is difficult to say yes or no.

I think we should "shelter in place" once the virus starts getting out of hand. If many people start getting infected and there's more death, then we should "shelter in place".

I think that a “shelter in place” should not currently be put in place because it would create a lot more panic. In addition, a lot of people are already staying home and not leaving much unless it’s for food. However, if the number of cases continue to increase I think a “shelter in place” will be necessary in order to stop the spread.

No, Because I would say, that most of us have already been exposed to it, and, because we're kind of already doing it. Personally, I'd say that anyone at risk should shelter in, but everyone else who won't be effected can go on with there lives.

I completely agree with the thought that if we've already been exposed to a lot of people who possibly have it, then what's the point of doing it now? Only as it majorly worsens should we really start to think about it

I feel like it would be challenging to enforce a "shelter in place" because sure, if everyone stays home then the chance of getting the virus is less likely, but we shouldn't do it right now because it'll just add to the tremendous amount of fear of the virus. I feel like most people are staying home anyway, so enforcing it would just make the situation worse.

I do not feel the need to place a shelter in place right now. It could be very difficult. People could get lacks of vitamin d, exercise and many more. I feel it would be very difficult and I have multiple questions if that were to happen.

I don't think they should announce a shelter-in because most people are already practicing staying home. Announcing it will make people feel more anxious and it will also cause more panic. In addition, a shelter-in would be hard impose in NYC.

if it's completely necessary to shelter in place then maybe. So if the number of cases starts to increase at a quicker pace then it might be necessary but if not then we shouldn't because people are already extremely terrified and a shelter in place may cause more panic.

I do not believe NYC should start a shelter in place. While I do believe it is important to slow the spread of the virus, I think that people are already (for the most part) doing a good enough job of that to lower the weight on our healthcare system, and a shelter in place would only destroy people's financial situations. Small businesses are having a very tough time of it already, and to keep them home would just be a disaster. It is important that we get through this, but for those who aren't at a great risk, it is very important that they get through this financially. Thankfully, those who are at a great risk are the elderly and so for the most part are not working jobs, which makes it easier for them to social distance themselves.

NYC should 100% start in a shelter in place. We have seen what happens in places like Japan and Iran when immediate action isn't taken place. While the majority of us have already begun social distancing I believe it is important to slow down this pandemic. If we all try to evacuate it will only spread faster. We saw this with the first case in new york. We need to flatten the curve and the best way to do that is a shelter in. To prevent the risk of getting the virus we must shelter in.

I think NYC should not be a "shelter-in place" because many people need to go out to get necessary resources for themselves and their families. If NYC launches a shelter-in then my family and I will most likely go upstate and probably will either way.

My family and I have been coping pretty well. I've been getting a lot of work done and learn new things (I have the time). As for a shelter in, I think most people are doing a decent job maintaining social distancing so I don't think that it is necessary to shelter in. As long as people keep paying attention to hygiene and trying to contain the virus, we should be fine.

In my opinion, I feel like a shelter in (for the victims of coronavirus) isn't necessarily a bad thing to do, that is because NYC cases of coronavirus has high numbers, and growing rapidly continuously. I feel like we should keep the victims of coronavirus in one place so the virus doesn't spread as easily.

i think NYC should have a shelter in because the numbers of people who have the virus increases by large numbers everyday. it would be a better idea to have these people isolated so it doesn’t affect even more people.

I think New York City should shelter in to prevent the spread of the virus. If the virus spreads from person to person, it can cause even more problems and overwhelm the medical system. Also I learned this is exponential growth, Ms. Anthony I hope you are proud.

I think NYC should create a shelter in place for the people who 100% have the virus just to keep being organized and if they are all put into one place it is a less chance of allowing the virus to spread to others. Also everyone who doesn't have the virus should also have some type of isolation too just to be safe. We technically all are shelter in place.

I believe a shelter is a good idea as it would help to quarantine those who have the sickness to slow the curve and save as many lives as possible. NYC is one of the densest cities in the world and that will most definitely contribute to our curve.
